Thomas L. Krannawitter

Thomas L. Krannawitter is currently Professor of Political Science at Colorado Christian University. He previously taught at Hillsdale College. He is a Senior Fellow at the Claremont Institute, where previously he was Vice President. He has also taught at Claremont McKenna College and Azusa Pacific College, and he teaches in the summer graduate program in American History and Government at Ashland University. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in political science from the Claremont Graduate University, and two Bachelor's degrees—one in political science and another in communications—from Fort Hays State University in Kansas, his home state. He has received graduate and research fellowships from the John M. Olin Foundation, the H.B. Earhart Foundation, the Winston Churchill Society, Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Institute for Human Studies, and he was a Salvatori Fellow at the Heritage Foundation in 1998.

Dr. Krannawitter's most recent book is Vindicating Lincoln: Defending the Politics of Our Greatest President (Rowman & Littlefield, 2008); he is co-author of A Nation Under God? The ACLU and Religion in American Politics (Rowman & Littlefield, 2005) and a contributing author to Challenges to the American Founding: Slavery, Historicism, and Progressivism in the 19th Century (Lexington Books, 2005). He has been published in journals and newspapers, including Interpretation: A Journal of Political Philosophy, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Houston Chronicle, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Investors Business Daily, and Orange County Register. He has made numerous appearances on nationally syndicated radio including National Public Radio of Chicago, The Hugh Hewitt Show, and The Dennis Prager Show. Dr. Krannawitter is editor of a PBS website on George Washington , and he has spoken widely before civic, political, educational, and religious organizations on the American Founding, constitutional jurisprudence, citizenship, classical and modern political philosophy, and he has testified before the California legislature.
