Jeffrey Hart is professor of English emeritus at Dartmouth College. He is the author of many books, most recently The Making of the American Conservative Mind: National Review and Its Times (ISI Books) and Smiling Through the Cultural Catastrophe: Toward the Revival of Higher Education (Yale University Press).
